Wednesday October 21, 2009

Whether you like watching cooking shows, dramas, romantic comedies, adventures, or biographies on TV or in the theater, you'll love Dae Jang Geum (Jewel in the Palace). This highly addictive Korean miniseries is over 50 episodes long, and it has it all.

Hi Naomi!
I’m enjoying your site.Is Dae Jang Geum about the woman who became a doctor? If it is, I watched part of it few years ago while visiting Japan. It is my mom’s favorite drama. It was really good. I love the fact that Korean food is medicinal and Jang Geum made wonderful dishes. In Japan, you can even get cookbooks from the series.I’m going to watch the series because I missed the first part.
Thank you.

Yes, that’s the one. Follow this link for a more complete review of it. That was one of the most interesting parts of the miniseries for me too, how she closely food and medicine are linked in Korean history. It’s a really long miniseries and seriously addictive though, so I wouldn’t recommend starting it when you’re schedule is packed. Once I started, I couldn’t stop!
